That Time Scholastic News with Weekly Reader Called

Seriously, this past summer, out of the blue, I got a phone call from the editor of the 5th & 6th grade Scholastic News Magazine.  She introduced herself and explained why she was calling.

First, I wanted to know, how did you get my number, and how did you possibly hear about me if you are in New York?  After I got the ok from mom to do the interview, we talked for about 30 minutes.  

That was in June. By the time school started up in August, I had forgotten all about Scholastic!  Then a cousin 10 plus hours from me in West Texas posts a picture of the Scholastic magazine column in Facebook!  I was surprised and happy.  We had been brainstorming the 2017 race, the non-profit was in the works, and this was excellent national media coverage.The column continued to be mentioned from different outlets.  I have been so appreciative for the opportunity.
